New Sunday Lane Q&A! Check it out!
Q: Who do you look up to in the music world?
A: “Bon Iver. I think he’s a genius. His melodies and lyrics are just incredible. I’m so sick of pop music and how formulaic it’s starting to feel. Bon Iver reminds me why I love music. ”
Q: How would you describe your music?
A: “That’s question is always a bit tricky; it’s a bit like trying to describe how you look Genre wise, I’d say that I’m piano pop that has a bit of a folky twist. My favorite comparison thus far was that I sound like Tegan & Sara’s little sister.”
Q: What song(s) do you wish you had written? Why?
A: “Ha! That’s a great question. Every time I hear “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac I think, “God, please let me write something as good as this someday.”
Q: Who are some of your influences?
A: “I try really hard not to be influenced by other artists. I go on “music fasts” for months because sometimes listening to music hinders my writing by either making me draw constant comparisons to works I deem better or by not knowing if a melody is my own or something I’ve heard. All that said, I will always be influenced by writers whose songs make me feel and artists who consistently do that are: Ryan Adams, Coldplay, Tegan&Sara, and Bon Iver.”
