I had the chance to ask Isaac Johnson a few questions. I really liked his answers. Here is his response!
Q: If you had to choose a quote to describe what motivates you day to day, what would it be?
A: “The quote that’s motivated me most in recent months is a fairly well known one from Henry David Thoreau which is “Go Confidently in the direction of your dreams, live the life you’ve imagined” I find that in the world of indie musician’s there are so many things can can seem impossible. This quote motivates me to remember to not be afraid of failure because failure is what helps you learn how you can succeed the next time.”
Q: What is your favorite song to cover?
A: “Right now it’s a cover I do of “Billie Jean” I’m a huge MJ fan, the man really knew how to craft a great pop song.”
Q: When were you first interested in music? What peaked you interest?
A: “I’ve always been interested in music on some level since I can remember but a key moment for me personally was hearing U2′s Achtung Baby Album when my older brother brought it home. We wore that thing out on a daily basis. It was the first time I remember be especially moved by the lyrics of a song.”
Q: Does your family have the same musical interests as you?
A: “My older brother and I have an undying love for U2 and I’d say he’s largely responsible for my obsession with rock music. My mom introduced me to Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and a lot of old soul music. I also have an uncle who’s responsible for my love of The Beatles, Tom Petty, Neil Young and the Beach Boys. So to answer your question yes :P”
